Ignore the fact that it looks like the Zima fanlisting. Really! The colour scheme just works so well for them ;_; Also, I literally spent HOURS drawing in most of that picture after removing several speech bubbles and a weird cityscape shot. It may not look like it, but I have spent more time on this layout than most of my other ones because of this. CLAMP are evil bitches who like to cover their most moving panels with things. Just to drive you insane.
Zima and Dita are special goverment issue persocons who work independently on their mission to stop Hideki and Chii from activating Chii's programming. I've always been under the assumption that Zima is a Chobits class himself and made by Mihara Ichirou, as he shows himself to be very capable of emotion the entire series and is considered to be the database through which all other persocons' information flows. Because of his importance, Dita was created as his protector. The little persocon is full of attack and hacking programs designed to always keep Zima safe from outsiders and harm.
As the series progresses, you see Zima and Dita emerge one of the most physically affectionate couples in all of CLAMP's works, let alone Chobits itself. They are always touching each other, often in very suggestive ways. I love how Zima holds Dita all the time.
While they are supposed to be hunting Chii, Zima actually delays Dita often in its pursit of the persocon that could harm Zima the most. Zima is interested in seeing what Chii can do for persocons. He often says he loves Dita, to which Dita scoffs and says persocons are unable to feel emotions. At the end of the series, there is a wonderful scene where Zima comments that children are always outdoing their parents, for while Chii has managed to love a human and have him love her in return, no one expected for two persocons to fall in love. Dita BLUSHES, and you can tell that they've both been changed by their involvement with the program inside Chii. And then they ride off into the sunset together. They have a very sweet ending.
I am one of those people who subscibe to the believe that Dita's gender is undetermined. No real identifiers to it being male or female were ever given. My first impression what that Dita was a little shota boy persocon. And this being CLAMP, gender neutral characters are entirely possible.
